The power of shadows, the attack that only three Gold Saints uniting their cosmo can use. It has been forbidden by the Goddess Athena herself since the dawn of times. Its name is: Athena Exclamation.
And the choice to use this dark, forbidden technique must be made quickly. Either Shaka's enemies damn themselves, or they die, bereft of their five senses by Tenbu Hourin. "Why is there hesitation in your hearts, renegade Gold Saints? Didn't you sell yourselves to the dark God of Death, Hades? Havent't you come to the Sanctuary on his order to take the head of the Goddess?
Haven't you?"
Realizing at last Shaka's true intent when he brought them to the garden, the three renegade Gold Saints make a heart-wrenching decision. "We shall do as you wish, Shaka, and unleash the Athena Exclamation against you..." The truth is, Shaka always meant to die.
"SHAKA-A-A-A!" Saori's cry rises in the night as the blinding light of an explosion too harsh and too powerful to possibly exist eclipses everything, reaching out to the Goddess herself. Athena Exclamation has been released, and Shaka is dead.
"Flowers bloom and then decay. Stars shine and one day dwindle into nothingness. Even the Earth, the sun, our galaxy.... The whole universe.... A day will come when they will all disappear. Compared to that, a human being's life lasts no more than the blink of an eye. During this insignificant piece of time, a human being is born, loves someone, hates another...weeps, laughs, fights, gets hurt, is happy and unhappy, and at last falls into the eternal slumber called Death." For a few seconds, shaka's spirit defeats the embrace of death to send one last message to the Goddess he serves--small petals carried away by the wind.
While Saori listens to a distant whiff of wind, wondering what Shaka tried to tell her as he passed away, the double doors guarding the entry to the Twin Sala's garden open. Slowly, the renegade Gold Saints exit what was once the most beautiful garden on earth and has now become a devastated watseland to confront those who were waiting--those who felt the fight, felt the pain and the death of one they loved.
Gemini Saga offers Aries Mu Shaka's rosary. A frightening silence smothers the House of Virgo. Anger and fury, grief are shaking the air.
Unaware of the tragedy that is about to unfold again in the House of Virgo, the Goddess goes to her altar, on top of the Sanctuary, seeking answers.
A strange wind is blowing over the Sanctuary, carrying a myriad of petals. As it drops some in Saori's hands, the Goddess at last gets Shaka's last message to her.
Arayashiki. The harsh, brutal truth conveyed in Shaka's last message strikes Saori. The terrible truth of this war's nature, and of the price to pay if humanity is to stand a small chance to survive.
